Remember When…

The Brass Band of Central Illinois will present its annual spring concert entitled “Remember When…” at 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018. The concert will be held in the auditorium of Normal West High School, 501 North Parkside Road, in Normal, Illinois.

Conducted by Dr. Sharon Huff, the band will present an assortment of brass band arrangements of music with melodies that are sure to evoke memories from days past. The concert will include pieces by Bernstein, Offenbach, Grainger, Rachmaninoff, and Shostakovich, and will also include popular tunes such as “Bill Bailey” and “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”

The concert will feature cornet soloist Gabe Myers who will perform “American Eagle Waltz,” and the cornet trio of Kelly Rackauskas, Sherman Lewis, and Gabe Myers performing “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”

Rounding out the program, the band will perform “Barn Dance and Cowboy Hymn” by Philip Sparke, and “Latin Satin” by our own staff composer, Tom Fatten. It will be a fun night of memorable melodies, marches, and solos!

As always, the concert is free with no admission charge or tickets required. Voluntary donations will be accepted during the concert and free refreshments will be served immediately after the concert.
