Join the Brass Band of Central Illinois and Dr. Sharon Huff, Music Director, and we’ll put you In the Mood for an evening of Rhythm and Brass! From the lopsided lilt of Derek Bourgeois’ Serenade to the fusion funk of Birdland to the syrupy swing of Sugar Blues, we’ll keep your toes tapping all night long.
Anne McNamara, associate professor of trumpet at Illinois State University, will display technical zest in Zelda, and her soaring rendition of Blessed Assurance is guaranteed to leave you breathless. Our cavalcade of rhythms continues with Closely Dancing, a Latin jazz ballad featuring BBCI euphonium player Cassandra Black. We round out the concert with the up-tempo Rhythm and Blues and Saints on Parade, where a military cadence gives way to dazzling Dixieland.
It’s time to Face the Music and Dance!
